Roadbiking between Lago Lugano and Lago Maggiore
Basecamp Andermatt goes roadbiking. We started in Lugano at the waterside next to the Miniature Switzerland Park. Its a good place to park the car. From here we biked first southbound around the beautifull Lake Lugano past Morcote and Agno. Always following the shoreline of Lake lugano we arrived at Ponte Tresa.
Here we left the lake and dashed through an undulating landscape to Luino and arrived at the shoreline of Lago Maggiore. We followed the eastern shore and drove through Maccagno to Ronco, where we started slowly to climb away from the shoreline. After passing several small villages, all with a beautifull view to the Lago Maggiore we arrived at the beginning of the Strada d´Indeman.
From here starts a fierce 1000m climb with about 11% in average. This leads to the the Alpe de Neggia with a small and cosy Restaurant. After a little break we took the long downhill to Maccagno and drove the same route back. This time we saw the lakes from a different perspektive and enjoyed the little tailwind carrying us back to Lugano.
The total distance is 130 Km, its about 1700 meters vertical and it takes about 5 Hours to drive. This tour is a good option for roadbiking around Andermatt if the weather at the higher passes is too bad. It takes only one hour driving from the Basecamp Andermatt to Lugano and the weather is guaranteed atleast 10 degrees warmer;-)
